Congratulations Jeff!!!! You must feel great.
I too ran a race today (complete with wind chill factor) and wasn't sure how to dress, But I faired well(enough) in a long sleeve shirt and shorts. I am not at all competitive but I too was glad that I didn't come in last. I can imagine how beautiful it must be to run in your area. I would probably get all wrapped up in the scenery and forget I was in a race.
So, what's next? Do you think you'll run all winter? My friend wants "us" to train for a half marathon in Feb. So that we have a goal to keep us motivated through the winter. I just don't know yet. Sounds cold. I really want to learn yoga, I think that's what's next for me.

Thanks.....yes it feels great. It was 34 degrees at the start. So leggings, shorts, a long sleeve shirt and a t-shirt were what got me through. It was a beautiful day to be out with the leaves in great color but the hills definitely keep your mind on the race.

I then followed up the day chaperoning a teen group at a trip to a corn maze. For 3 hours we hiked an additional 6-7 miles up and down hills inside this huge maze. So my leg muscles are a little tight about now. I don't want to think about tomorrow.

I have been continuing to run in the morning in the dark and cold. At least 30s cold. I have my reflectors and flashers and am working at the various layers needed to stay warm enough but not too warm. I see some wool runners in my future. I also have identified a 7 mile route I can do at least once a week at work when I can afford a long lunch when it might be a little warmer mid day.

I'll see about the really cold days. I have been told it isn't healthy to run outside below 20 and I'll need to verify that. On weekends I expect I will be doing more cross country skiing and taking advantage of a greater level of fitness.

Congratulations also to you on your race. Wow a half marathon! Great goal. I have toyed with the idea but really only have enough time on weekends to train that much distance. I think I will be working on bringing my shorter times down.
